MuzeStills

2008 will see the addition of the new MuzeStills service to Muze Europe's already comprehensive portfolio of music and film data products.

MuzeStills is a library of over 1200 studio photographs and film stills from definitive cinematic works and has been compiled in association with the distinguished Rex Features picture library. Designed to work in conjunction with MuzeVideo UK in the online retail sector as a rich-data 'add-on' product, it will make an essential addition to any video database and can be integrated with most existing data sets.

For any online video retail or rental site MuzeReels will give an additional level of detail on the title or star that will engage film enthusiasts and online shoppers and help customers to recognise releases and actors and help generate sales. Unlike many other picture library services using MuzeStills will dispense with the hassle and additional costs of royalties, and can be licensed from Muze Europe as a complete product ready for use on you website or database.

USB Memory Sticks introduced to MuzeMusic UK

USB Sticks have been added to the MuzeMusic UK database as a new format. Included on the database is Keane single 'The Night Sky', the debut album 'Not Here to Please You' from new rave group Hadouken, and the re-released Rolling Stones compilation 'Rolled Gold+'. Twelve releases are currently featured on the database.

Commenting on the releases, Muze's music editorial manager James Wilkinson commented: "USB Sticks is a new format in a market dominated by CDs in the last 20 years. Their advantage over CDs is their memory - whole back catalogues can be stored on one USB as EMI have just done with their 4GB Radiohead release. There is also more flexibility with the shape and packaging. Plus there is the ability to store your own files and use as a normal storage device."

The launch of MuzeReels now provides the online video retailer with a fully integrated film trailer service. MuzeReels responds to customers' ever-higher expectations of the e-tail experience by providing over 6,000 unique cinematic trailers for cinema releases in both the UK and US.

Complementing and fully integrated with the existing MuzeVideo UK data set MuzeReels enables online retail websites access to engaging additional content which will provide a richer experience to customers and help improve stickiness to a website. MuzeReels follows in the footsteps of our other rich-data services including Essential Artists and the Muze EPM to provide an industry standard in film and music data services to the online retailer.

Trailers carry the same certification as the counterpart video and can be supplied in several formats and bit-rates. This enables MuzeReels a great flexibility in its applications, and the ability to provide different levels of service to suit different budgets.

Consumer Advice added to MuzeVideo UK

Europe will be supplying British Board of Film Classifications (BBFC) consumer advice to all MuzeVideo UK clients from July 2007. This enhancement will add consumer advice to the category classified by the BBFC. The BBFC classifies videos under the Video Recordings Act 1984 for their 'suitability for viewing in the home'.

Commenting on the addition to the MuzeVideo UK service, Sue Clark of the BBFC said:

"The BBFC very much welcomes the decision to make the BBFC's Consumer Advice available to Muze Europe clients renting or buying DVD's online. The combination of the Consumer Advice and the BBFC category rating will enable people to make informed decisions about which films they, and their family are going to watch."

50,000th title added to the Video channel

The 50,000th new title was added onto the database this week. Fittingly it was the legendary film director Robert Altman's final film, "The Prairie Home Companion". Altman who died late last year, directed many acclaimed films, including "The Long Goodbye", The Player" and "Mash", so it is a fitting tribute for his closing film to be a landmark entry for Muze.
